This summer’s exhibition at Svenskt Tenn explores Josef Frank’s floral world of patterns – where flowers, foliage and winding forms create an everlasting summer landscape.
Colour, pattern and craftsmanship come together in interiors where the boundary between indoors and outdoors is blurred. Here, the textiles’ ability to shape a sense of space comes into focus.
At the centre of the exhibition is the pattern California, designed by Josef Frank in the 1940s. Inspired by botanical illustrations, it forms a vibrant field of flowers, where sweet pea, pansy and dahlia are woven together in a free and rhythmic composition.
“Frank’s Flower Fields” is a tribute to textiles’ ability to bring life into a room – and to Josef Frank as a botanical pattern artist.
