Experience craftsmanship
Honouring craftsmanship is a central part of Svenskt Tenn, which collaborates with 25 workshops and two glassworks across Sweden. Every day, cabinetmakers, glassblowers, seamstresses, metalworkers, ceramists and basketmakers create the furniture and interior details that form part of our assortment. Each year, Svenskt Tenn invites some of these skilled artisans to the store – offering an insight into the techniques and processes behind a selection of our classic objects. Welcome to be inspired and to experience the craftsmanship at Strandvägen 5.
Kristin Andersson and Ida Vikfors from Porslinsfabriken i Lidköping
On Friday and Saturday, 5–6 December 2025, Kristin Andersson and Ida Vikfors from Porslinsfabriken i Lidköping will visit Svenskt Tenn’s store on Strandvägen 5 in Stockholm. Here, they will demonstrate the craftsmanship behind the Glader and Butter candlesticks, which are part of this year’s holiday season at Svenskt Tenn.
Each candlestick takes at least two weeks to produce – from the initial casting to the final hand-painted details – and everyone at the factory is involved in one of the many steps of the process. Since 2011, Svenskt Tenn’s classic Tolvekarna pot has also been produced at Porslinsfabriken.

Oskar Hammar and Filip Eklind from Humstorp Metall
Svenskt Tenn looks forward to once again welcoming Oskar Hammar, CEO of Humstorp Metall, to the store at Strandvägen 5 in Stockholm. Together with Filip Eklind, Production Manager at Humstorp Metall, Hammar will demonstrate the craftsmanship and production behind Josef Frank’s iconic candleholder The Knot of Friendship.
During their visits to the store, they will also share the craftsmanship behind the Profil Vase and show the Lion sculpture in different stages of the production process – both designed by Anna Petrus in the 1920s.
Humstorp Metall in Västergötland was founded by Oskar Hammar in 2011, when he took over part of the production from his parents’ company Skaraborgs Hantverk, established in 1978. In the workshop, some of Svenskt Tenn’s most iconic and technically advanced pewter and brass objects are produced with great precision and craftsmanship.

Carina Seth Andersson & Skrufs Glasbruk
On Friday, 9 May, the store at Strandvägen 5 will welcome designer Carina Seth Andersson, who was named Designer of the Year 2024 at the Elle Design Awards. For Svenskt Tenn, Carina has designed, among other pieces, the classic Dagg vase. She will be joined by Kent Elm, owner of Skrufs Glasbruk, where the vase is produced. Throughout the day, they will speak about the unique collaboration between designer and craftsman, showcase parts of the production process, and answer questions.

Ulricehamns Tapetfabrik
For spring 2025, a green version of the Eldblomman wallpaper is reissued from the archive. To mark the occasion, Anna Andén, CEO of Ulricehamns Tapetfabrik, and Thomas Johansson, the factory’s master colourist, will visit the store at Strandvägen 5 in Stockholm. Throughout the day, they will be available to answer questions and share insights into the artisanal production and printing techniques behind Josef Frank’s iconic wallpapers.

Larsson Korgmakare
This year’s first edition of Experience Craftsmanship will take place in Svenskt Tenn’s store at Strandvägen 5 on 21 and 22 March. This time, Erica Larsson and Lars Jildeteg from Larsson Korgmakare will, among other things, showcase the craftsmanship and expertise behind Josef Frank’s Armchair 311: how the rattan is woven and the piece takes shape.
Larsson Korgmakare is Sweden’s only manufacturer of rattan furniture. It was Erica’s grandfather who initiated the collaboration with Josef Frank after the Second World War, but the family business was founded as early as 1903 by Erica’s great-grandfather and great-uncle. The workshop is located in the old town of Stockholm, just about 1.5 kilometres from the store at Strandvägen, and here, Svenskt Tenn’s rattan armchairs, sofas, stools, and chair seats are produced.

Woodworkers Frej Lonnfors and Per Norén
On Friday, 29th November 2024, woodworkers Frej Lonnfors and Per Norén will visit Svenskt Tenn’s store at Strandvägen 5 in Stockholm. Here, they will demonstrate the craftsmanship and production techniques behind the shrink boxes and teaspoons they have created exclusively for Svenskt Tenn.
Both Lonnfors and Norén have worked as artisans for many years and hold exceptional expertise in their field. In creating their pieces, every step is carried out on a small scale and with meticulous craftsmanship—from the felling of the tree to drying and carving.

Valdemar Skantze, Karlskrona Lampfabrik
On Friday, 11 October, and Saturday, 12 October 2024, Valdemar Skantze, CEO and fifth-generation director of Karlskrona Lamp Factory, will visit the store at Strandvägen 5 in Stockholm.
For 140 years, the Skantze family has operated the factory, which is the oldest of its kind in Sweden. Valdemar will share insights into the business, the craftsmanship, and how these venerable traditions have been adapted to modern age. Belma Mahalbasic from Svenskt Tenn’s buying department will also be present to answer questions about our lighting range.

O.H. Sjögren
The next event is on Saturday, 23 March 2024, with O.H. Sjögren, one of Sweden’s most established furniture manufacturers, visiting the store at Strandvägen 5 in Stockholm. They will upholster an armchair and decorate a chair with upholstery studs on site.
O.H. Sjögren's furniture factory in Tranås has produced upholstered furniture for Svenskt Tenn since 1982. It is a time-consuming process which requires great craftsmanship. The factory was founded in 1902 by Oskar Herbert Sjögren, who early on specialised in the production of sofas and armchairs. Over time, the production has evolved, but the original idea of the highest possible quality remains the same today, over a hundred years since its inception.

Anders Mattsson
First up was cabinetmaker Anders Mattsson from Valdemarsvik. In his workshop, some of Josef Frank’s most iconic cabinets are crafted, including 522, 2192, and most recently, the Stockholm Cabinet in a limited edition for the centennial celebration. On Saturday 2 March 2024, Anders Mattsson was at the store on Strandvägen 5 to share more about the craft.
